Jisoo Seo
Hi! I'm a PhD student in Philosophy at University at Buffalo, SUNY. My main interests are metaphysics of science, general philosophy of science, applied ontology, metaphysics of race, philosophy of race and racism, ethics of algorithms, AI, and ontologies, science and values, and philosophy of film. Some of the topics that I'm currently working on are a pragmatist approach to natural kinds, a new way of understanding natural kinds focused on species, race as a natural kind, representing race in an ontology, a consequentialist approach to science and values, and epistemic injustice in biomedical algorithms.
About Me
I am originally from Seoul, Korea, and got my BA and MA in philosophy at Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. But Buffalo has become my second hometown, very dear to my heart.
When I’m not working, I watch Japanese animes and old Italian films or search for new Vietnamese pho and Chinese hot pot restaurants in Buffalo. If I hadn't decided to become a philosopher I would have pursued the career of a film critic.
